In crisis intervention, there is one massive challenge after another and while I kept seeing a path to prevention, it was very difficult to step away from those suffering the most to prevent another child from experiencing those same preventable challenges. Once we step back and equip the system around the children with the strategies that can support their unique needs, we can prevent hundreds of children at once from developing chronic conditions that restrict their potential.

Strengthening Systems.
We know theoretically how to define prevention and research and evidence regarding the benefits of prevention, however we are not taught them. We are taught a reactive, response-based model that does not provide us with standards for prevention, nor defines wellbeing to develop a pathway that would reduce referrals, reduce the severity of mental illness, reduce relapse and increase our communities’ ability to support wellbeing. We filled that gap and scaffolded the change process to ensure a manageable approach.
